Shivani Khanna, Co-Founder and Principal Architect at Studio Crypt holds vast experience as an institutional & residential architect. Known for directing an environmentally conscious architectural practice, she ensures to deliver aesthetically versatile architectural spaces being mindful of sustainability and offering luxury.
Acing through two architecture schools, her education culminated with a Masters in Sustainability, at University of Auckland. She learnt the fundamentals of architecture during her internship with C.P. Kukreja and Associates. Post-graduation, she worked as an Assistant Teacher at the University of Auckland, where she also published two research papers on efficient building envelope design. In 2014, she joined as a Project Architect and Research Analyst at SHiFt for 3years and embraced the world of ethical- sustainable design and building practices, concentrating on interventions that push a building towards efficient performance.
Taking this experience further, Shivani established her firm, Studio Crypt with her decade-long partner, Debaditya Goswami, with the intent of designing conscious, efficient & luxurious structures.
Her skills in designing notable institutes, like The HDFC School, TERI NBRC- Lab and other residential and commercial building projects in India, along with her works in New Zealand that have been well received.
Some of the accolades received are namely;
-their competition project awarded Jury’s Honourable Mention (Archdux 2018)
-she was also awarded the WEAA (Woman Excellence Achievement Awards) in 2020 for Architecture Category
-her works and hypothesis were featured in Interiors & Décor, The Magazine & the Architects in March 2020

Debaditya Goswami, the Co-Founder and Principal Architect at Studio Crypt is popular for his proficiency with sustainable architecture. He is skilled with designing unique structures, including in the hills and contoured terrains. Recognized for persistent dedication towards offering sustainable luxury design solutions focused on minimizing wastage and increased efficiency; Debaditya Goswami is also known for encouraging local artisans by including their craftsmenship in his designs.
While pursuing architecture, Debaditya interned at Vijay Gupta Architects in 2010 where he trained first hand on Institutional building design. Upon completing Bachelors in 2012, he was recruited as a Project Architect in the same firm. He proceeded to pursue Masters in sustainable architecture from the University of Auckland and further went onto leading as the Architectural Designer at EMACS Group Ltd at Auckland. New Zealand provided him with valuable experience in timber architecture and water-free construction systems. Post designing a vast number of residential projects for the New Zealand market he turned to India in 2016 and joined Neeraj Manchanda Architects as a Senior Architect and Sustainability Specialist.
Some of his notable projects include small- and large-scale Residential developments in Auckland such as,
-Grassways Avenue- Pakuranga, Great South Road-Papatoetoe, Kimpton Road-Papatoetoe, and Tiverton Road-Avondale to name a few.
-Under his capable leadership, Studio Crypt has accomplished designing of housing spanning 1lakh sq.ft. in 2020 alone for the developers in Auckland, with construction of various projects having commenced in November 2020.
-The versatile list also includes Salvation Tree School-Greater Noida, Resort at Camp Panther- Rishikesh, Amila Hills- Luxury Residences- Shimla, The Wisdom Tree School, Bhubaneshwar, and similar works.
-He has also done notable works of national importance for the Indian Defence.
-He has led the design of residential and hospitality projects in the Himachal region for Studio Crypt, including Among the Pines.
